Designer Sarah Olsen joins Eagle and Monitor teams

Sarah Olsen

We are excited to announce that Sarah Olsen has joined our MidAmerica Publishing family as of January 18, 2016. She splits her time between the Eagle Grove Eagle and the Clarion Monitor.

Olsen is a 2006 graduate of Humboldt High School. She graduated in 2009 with an AAS from Iowa Central Community College in graphic design. After spending three years with Industry Marketing Solutions as a graphic and web designer, and a year with LaJames in their marketing department, Olsen was ready to try her hand in the newspaper world. She is working part-time in the Eagle Grove Eagle office as a graphic designer, and at the Clarion Monitor part-time as well where she has office duties and graphic design responsibilities.

“It’s an evolving company that is moving forward,” she said about why she is excited to join the two newspapers. She added that she is also looking forward to expanding her skill set, learning how things work in the newspaper industry.

“I enjoy my co-workers. Everybody is really awesome, and that’s important,” she said about being part of the newspaper family.

Olsen said she really enjoys her new position because it allows her to “be creative in a different light.” She likes the challenge of designing ads that appeal to her specific client, but that also attract the attention of local customers.

“I like knowing that I can help...and I give 100 percent with everything I create and every project I work on...in order to deliver a highquality product to both the customer and the community,” Olsen said.

When she’s not working at the newspaper, Olsen enjoys spending time at the gym, continuing her quest for a Bachelors Degree from Buena Vista, and spending time with family.

“Time spent with family is time well-spent.”

We are excited to welcome her to our newspaper family. We invite you to stop by the Eagle Grove Eagle on Thursdays or Fridays to meet her, or you can find her at the Monitor on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
