Leader expands editorial staff

Emilie Jenson

The Leader, the Kanawha Reporter and their parent company Mid-America Publishing are pleased to announce the addition of Emilie Jenson to their writing staff. Emilie joins the group as a regional editor in Hancock County. Her primary areas of responsibility will be in Kanawha, Britt and the western side of the county.

“We’re thrilled that Emilie is returning to the Hancock County area,” said Ryan Harvey, publisher of The Leader. “While we were patient with our search, I’m very comfortable in our choice to serve our readers. Emilie’s vast knowledge of journalism, along with her familiarity of the area, makes her the right choice to serve the area. I look forward to watching the newspaper prosper with Emilie’s help. She’ll only enhance the quality news coverage that current news editor Rebecca Peter already provides.”

Peter will continue to work full-time out of our Garner office while focusing her efforts on the eastern portions of Hancock County.

“Since the merger of the Corwith and Garner papers a few years ago, along with the acquisition of the Kanawha Reporter in 2012, our mission has been to become the go-to source for news, advertising, and commercial printing in the Hancock County area,” Harvey said. “Emilie’s addition only reinforces this commitment to what we strive for each issue of each day. We’ve never lost sight of that goal and will continue to focus our efforts in providing a stronger newspaper as we move forward.”

Emily began work this past week and has already gotten quickly up to speed.
