Caring Tree Results: Our Readers are Amazing!

Well readers - you are amazing! Your generosity enabled the “First” Herald Caring Tree to Donate: 20 hats, three hat/glove sets, two ear warmers, one hat/scarf set, three hat/glove sets, one buff, one pair of fleece pants, one pair of slippers, and 37 pairs of gloves/mittens to the Postville Schools!

A special thank you to Janet Finn who not only cleaned all the items after the flood but also sewed all pairs of gloves, mittens, and matching hat set together!

The donation to the Food Pantry included 56 pounds of food products and 15 pounds of cleaning products. The food Pantry donation may seem a bit less but we had a larger number of items that were destroyed in the flood.

In discussing this with the Food Pantry staff, we will donate the monies received from our insurance payout for Caring Tree items directly to the Food Pantry, rather than replacing the items.
